Ms Gladys Collected Colorful Things
Ms Gladys Collected Colorful Things
Gladys was a bright lady, color was her thing. Growing up I had a neighbor named Tish and I always thought she looked more like a Gladys. She would garden wearing the most colorful clothing. Her garden was always filled with lots of colorful veggies and flowers. I have painted a bird to honor her character and the love I hold for her memory. She is painted in parts as I wanted her to have layers that come together in a perfectly imperfect way. All painted on heavy watercolor paper adding acrylics with touches of metallic gold paint. Miss Gladys is then layered on heavy textured watercolor paper. Under the painting is another painting, stitching pieces, all stitched together with a vibrant orange red thread.
To me the back painting represents her garden. The textures are wonderful.
The entire piece is then mounted on a bamboo vintage wallpaper sample.
I can see this in either a simple black vintage frame or a bamboo golden frame.
I image the stories she will bring as you glance her way from time to time.
